Decoration description
Some vessels have applied strips with impressions under the rim. An the case of an example from the kiln site at Hanley Swan these impressions were were made by the end of a cow toe bone (Hurst 1994, fig 6). More rarely, applied strips are seen around the bunghole. A large number of this form have simple stamps on the handles very similar to those seen on Malvernian roof tiles.
Function
Storing and dispensing of liquids. Must have been fitted with a lid or cover.
