Some jugs have applied faces. Handles are generally stabbed or slashed.
Function
Storage. Evidence of sooting has been found on a number of thumbed bases, suggesting that vessels were sometimes placed in the embers of a fire to heat the contents.
General distribution
Mainly in the Severn and Wye Valleys with examples noted as far north as Shrewsbury.
