Fabric 16.2 - Handmade grog tempered ware


Hard fabric with inclusions of grog or crushed tile (<3.0mm) and sparse, sub-angular quartz grains (<0.5mm).
Reddish yellow or buff surfaces and a grey core.

Source not known, but may be local. Found in small quantities on sites in Worcester and Droitwich.
Roman (late 1st to 3rd century AD)
The date range for this fabric is unknown, although present evidence suggests that it was produced between the late 1st and 3rd centuries (Bryant and Evans 2001, 34).
