Fabric 145 - Sand and flint tempered ware


Iron-rich clay tempered with quartz (<2.0mm), burnt-out organic material (<0.5mm) and some flint (<1.0mm).
Dark grey with a grey-brown external surface.

Only one sherd of this pottery has so far been identified in Worcestershire and the source is not known. The rim sherd found is similar to vessels in fabric 58 found at Droitwich which in turn are similar to Bath A ware but both of these fabrics contain limestone.
Medieval (Late 11th to 12th century)
The date is based on the known date of similar fabrics.
