Fabric 62 - Deritend type ware


Iron rich clay with moderate medium sized quartz inclusions of <0.5mm.
Generally orange throughout.

Deritend, Birmingham, WEST MIDLANDS
Thought to have been produced in Deritend, Birmingham, although the interpretation of material from this site as kiln waste has been challenged (Stephanie Ratkai pers comm). This ware has an extremely wide distribution and has been found in Warwickshire, Stafford Castle (Staffordshire), Dudley and Sandwell (West Midlands), Bridgnorth (Shropshire) and in smaller numbers at Worcester and Droitwich.
