Saintonge region, FRANCE
The Saintonge is a region in south-west France between Bordeaux and La Rochelle and is centred on the town of Saintes. There are a number of production sites exporting to Britain and northern Europe. Saintonge is probably the most widely distributed medieval imported ware in Britain. It has been found in small amounts in Worcester and Worcestershire, but not, so far, in Droitwich.
