Gloucester, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Along with fabric 57 this fabric is part of a tradition of limestone tempered wares produced in the Cotswold region. It is very similar to Gloucester TF41A, which is thought to have been produced in Gloucester. At present it appears to have a limited distribution and has only been identified in Gloucester, Wincombe, Frampton-on Severn, Hereford and Worcester.
Medieval (Late 9th to ?early 12th century)
Evidence from excavations in Hereford suggests a late 9th/early 10th to mid/late 11th century date for this fabric. Evidence from Worcester indicates that it may still be in use in the early 12th century.
